Electronics & Communication Engg. (M.Tech)

It was in the year 2001 that Department of Electronics & Communication of DAVIET got forward-biased. Within a short span of about 3 years, our dept. was successful in carving a niche for itself and its popularity as reputed department rose to such a knee high voltage level that its intake was amplified from 60 to 120 in 2004. The dept. now epitomizes a confluence of aesthetics institutionalized quality education and understated passion and commitment deemed essential for the modern era grind as a splendid apotheosis of the triumph of the mind and will.

Analog Electronics Laboratories

These laboratories serve in teaching students electronic measurements, electronic circuit construction, analysis and design in an introductory level. The laboratory comprises of 15 student workbenches. Each features state of art test and measurement equipment and high performance PCs loaded with related software packages like MULTISIM.

 Digital Electronics Laboratories

Laying a strong foundation for electronic engineers, the laboratory makes the students understand the fundamentals of Digital Electronics. Explosive development and exciting progress has occurred in the field of Digital System Design of our college strives to keep in pace with technology by providing Digital Trainer Kits with Breadboard area with more than 1200 TIE points, Custom required TIE points are also available, In-built power supply and Power Supply provided +5V/1Amp, GND. for the students to gain sound basics. Addion IC for experiments in blank socket 7420, 7495, 74193, 7483, 7485, 7447, 74121, 74163 & 7490. The laboratory equips ADC and DAC, Digital storage Oscilloscopes. The laboratory comprises 15 student workbenches. The high speed power product and interfacing facilities of high generation Digital System are useful for real-time control and distributed processing networks.

 Microprocessor and Embedded System Laboratories

The purpose of this laboratory is to train the students to be familiar with the software and hardware of micro processors and microcontrollers, so that they can gain enough experience to meet the demand of microprocessor era. The laboratory is mainly equipped with 15 sets of 8085, 8086, microprocessor, ARM Microprocessors, microcontroller trainer kits and their peripherals, personal computers and measuring instruments. In each set, a parallel I/O board, a pressure/strain gauge card, a temperature sensor card and a stepper motor are present in order to teach students how to integrate various hardware with microprocessors. All PCs are equipped with various software development tools such as assemblers, compilers and simulators and have internet connection. Each set comprises state-of-the-art measuring equipment such as oscilloscope, logic analyzer, signal generator, digital multi-meter and power supply. In addition, digital IC testers, EPROM programmers, EPROM erasers are available in the laboratory.

Communication Laboratory

This laboratory provides hands-on practical training in the diversified fields of Analog & Digital communication, starting from the principles of modulation up to the recent concepts of Advanced Communication Systems such as GSM, GPRS, EDGE, CDMA, UWB, and Bluetooth Technology. The underlined goal is to let students experimentally explore the applications of their knowledge using excellent facilities. The laboratory consists of ten workbenches each of which contains a PC, special hardware, black & white display digital oscilloscopes (80 MHz), function generators, power supplies, multimeters, etc. All PCs are connected to the internet and loaded with software like Spice and Commsim for simulation of circuits and systems. All basic experiments can be performed related to analog and digital modulations, transmitters and receivers. Black & white spectrum analyzers (MHz) are also available in the laboratory.

Digital Signal Processing Laboratory

The objective of the laboratory is to enable the students simulate and experiment with digital signals and systems and apply the theory they have studied in DSP course. Students can implement digital signal processing algorithms using different computational platforms and DSP tools. They can critically analyze the behavior of their implementation, and observe the specific limitations inherent to the computational platform and tools. The laboratory combines both hardware and software facilities. The DSP lab is equipped with 35 sets of personal computers, oscilloscopes, Texas Instruments DSP cards, signal generators, digital millimeters and spectrum analyzers. The software used includes Code Composer Studio, C++, etc.

VLSI Design Lab

This Lab has 35 nodes providing excellent facilities for VHDL, Verilog based designing digital systems. Software’s include XILINIX ISE Foundation 6.3i, ORCAD Tools. VLSI Lab provides simulators such as Model-Sim. To have the practical knowledge, trainer kits from Xilinx are also provided. The kits are provided with the latest FPGA and CPLD, so that student can get the real feel of ICs.  These tools & trainers are unique, as they are specifically designed for De-mystifying the “Art of learning VLSI design”.
