An Expert talk on the theme Personality Development was delivered by Mr. Jagdeep Sharma, Life Coach and Divisional Manager LIC, (Retd.) on Personality Development, during on the 4th day of the Seven days NSS camp. Mr. Sharma highlighted role of Speaking skills and reading newspaper and the sound working habits and motivated students to control even our dreams through our consciences. With the practical and real-world examples he related the effective and strong words to communicate formally with others fellows and officeholders. Many new terms such as “KASH’ ‘Kleptomania’ etc. were explained with examples. He narrated about the role of communication skills and body language on the transmitting properly our skills.

The Election Commission of India on the occasion of National Voters’ Day has launched a National Voter Awareness contest – ‘My Vote is my Future – Power of One Vote’ to reiterate the importance of every vote through creative expression. The Department of National Service Scheme (NSS) and Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) of DAVIET organized a Seminar on District Legal Services on the Institute Campus on 7 December 2022. The seminar was organized to create awareness among the students about the availability of free and competent legal aid in the form of counselling and legal advice along with free legal services in the conduct of cases before courts and tribunals.

Principal accorded a green welcome the Key Note SpeakerDr Gagandeep Kaur and the resource personn Ms Parveen Abrol.The Key Note Speaker was Dr Gagandeep Kaur, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jalandhar. In her talk, she highlighted that the Indian Constitution is the basis from which all the laws originate. Dr Gagandeep discussed different articles in the constitution like Article 39 A that ensures access to justice for all. She also shared the fact that sound legal advice and services are available for anyone in need of them. She shared with all the present that the District Legal Services Authority is committed to spreading legal awareness among the masses highlighting the importance of good legal advice. She also shared that the Department aims to render free legal aid to under-trial prisoners whose cases are pending in courts.
Ms Parveen Abrol, the learned Resource Person talked about the District Legal Services Authorityand shared that the Lok Adalats play an important role in society. They save time, and energy leading to mental peace. She also highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment in today’s society. She highlighted that everyone has equal rights irrespective of gender. Women have been on the back foot economically and socially, but she added, that the good news is that now women are realising their true potential and outshining men.
Dr Sanjeev Naval, Principal, stated that all of us must be aware of our rights. But at the same time, he highlighted, that we should know about the legal guidance and services that are readily available to us. He shared the life of Dr BR Ambedkar and credited him for creating the constitution of India, which safeguards the interests of everyone. He thanked the Keynote speaker Dr Gagandeep Kaur for apprising the students and teachers about the activities of the District Legal Services Department. He also appreciated the efforts of the NSS wing and Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) of the Institute and encouraged Dr Ashok Kumar, the NSS Program Officer, Dr Suman Tondon, Incharge ICC, and Dr Shivani Vij, the Program Co-ordinator to continue the good work.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar in association with NSS wing of the Institute, organized a poetry event titled Salam-e-Shahadat on March 24, 2022. As many as 40 students from different disciplines including B. Tech, BBA, B.Com and MBA participated in this event and recited patriotic poems.
Dr Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET paid tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and saluted the heroic deeds of the great martyrs of India. He lionized the sacrifice of freedom fighters in glowing terms and inspired the students to acknowledge their remarkable efforts. He called upon the students to take the pledge to live the life like S. Bhagat Singh and love our nation.
Dr Neeru Malhotra, HOD, Electronics and Communication Engineering, congratulated the students for their active participation and motivated them to take part enthusiastically in such events which are helpful for their intellectual development. She congratulated the faculty members of the Department for the success of the event.

The Department of Business Management, DAV Institute of Engg & Technology, Jalandhar in association with NSS wing of the institute celebrated World Consumer Rights Day on March 15, 2022.
Consumers Rights Day is commemorated to safeguard consumer’s right and to ensure that customers are not subjected to market exploitation or social injustice that may jeopardize their rights. So to make people aware of their rights, this day was celebrated at DAVIET with the theme of event “Shiksha Badhao Ghrahak Bachao”. As many as 50 students belonging to different disciplines including BBA, B.Com, B. Tech and MBA participated in the event and spread awareness on consumer rights through Role-play and Skits.
Dr Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET appreciated the efforts of students and encouraged the department to take up such endeavors in the future as well. He congratulated the students and faculty members for their active participation and enthusiasm.
Dr Anil Soni, HOD, Department of Business Management stressed upon the need of such awareness programmes. He assured that the Department of Business Management will extend its full cooperation for programmes related to social cause and awareness.

The NSS Unit of DAVIET, in association with Knowledge Villa Integrated Education and Welfare Society, Blood Bank Amritsar, organized a day-long Blood Donation Camp here at DAVIET. The camp aimed to educate the students about the significance of making a useful contribution to society by saving the lives of a person in need. In the camp, more than 100 enthusiastic DAVIETians donated blood.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET, applauded the hard work put in by the NSS unit volunteers to organize the Blood Donation Camp successfully. He shared with all the present that by donating blood, the body remains healthy. Dr Manoj cautioned all the enthusiastic first-time donors that there should be a gap of 3 months between two donations. Further, he stated that around 5% of people donate blood the world over, and if this number can be increased to 10%, the blood shortage can be removed. He also highlighted that students become more humane and realize the value of life through blood donation. He also shared that the institution has signed an MOU with Knowledge Villa Integrated Education and Welfare Society, Blood Bank Amritsar to provide assistance and support to each other if and when the need of blood donors arise.
Mr Vikramjit Singh, President, Knowledge Villa Integrated Education, and Welfare Society, Blood Bank Amritsar, encouraged young blood donors to donate blood with enthusiasm. He stated that it is only when we try to help those in need that we realize our lives’ true purpose.
The NSS coordinator Dr Ashok Kumar highlighted that it is the poor strata of society that needs the most help as it can’t manage the health care facilities. He also emphasized that one unit of blood can save up to 3 lives. He urged upon the students to take part in the camp enthusiastically to save the lives of people in need.
The camp concluded with the NSS Volunteers and donators being thanked for their active participation.

NSS wing of DAV Institute of Engg. & Technology (DAVIET) in collaboration with American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – Student Chapter, DAVIET has started “Keep Clean, Go Green” Drive under ‘Mission Fateh’ in which Herbal and Medicinal properties based Trees are to be planted in and around the campus.
Oral diseases remained the most prevalent disease group in India over the past three decades. Dental problems are increasing everyday due to poor oral hygiene and improper diet. Keeping in view to improve dental health, NSS wing of the institute in association with Sujan Singh Dental Implant Centre has organised a dental check-up camp on 6th February 2020 (Thursday) from 3.00 PM to 5.00 PM at Convention Hall of the institute. A team of professional doctor interacted with students about dental care and hygiene. Around 250 students and staff participated in the camp.
Various activities were organized by different departments of the institute under Buddy Programme( an initiative of Government of Punjab against Drug Abuse) . Presentations were given by the buddy groups of different classes covering the following topics:
Students got to know about the impact of alcohol and other drugs on an individual’s behavior and suffering of the nation as a whole. Students also took pledge not to indulge in any kind of drug consumption.
NSS wing of our institute has organised a Tree Plantation Drive under “One Student – One Tree initiative” of AICTE in Burton Park, on 8th August 2019 for a Clean and Green Environment. 1100 Samplings of different plants are planted to support green belt around institute.
NSS Wing of the Institute conducted a cleanliness drive at Burton Park with Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar (MCJ) under Swachh Survekshan 2019on 30.03.2019. Around 100 NSS volunteers of different departments took part in this exercise to make a stretch around the Park garbage free.

UBA is a flagship program of MHRD, addressing qualitative economic transformation of India through Higher Learning Institutes of excellence, coordinated by Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. UBA is inspired by the transformational change in the rural development process by leveraging knowledge institutes to help build the architect of inclusive India. Following the vision of UBA, DAVIET adopted following villages of District Jalandhar,(Punjab) where we work in collaboration with District Administration, Panchayati Raj Institutions, and Voluntary Organizations to uplift the standards of living in these rural areas of Punjab.

NSS Wing of the Institute in collaboration with Match for Marrow, Canada, is organized a registration drive cum awareness seminar for Bone Marrow Cancer in the Institute on 09th April, 2018 at 9.30 AM in the Convention Hall. Its primary objective was to recruit individuals of ages 18-45 yrs. old to help find lifesaving matches for patients suffering from Blood Cancer and Blood Disorders. Match for Marrow is a not for profit organization founded in Canada. Its goal is to help increase the international donor database so that blood cancer/disorder patients in need of a bone marrow can easily and quickly find their life saving match for survival. They do this by running awareness seminars and registration drives working with different registries across the world.
NSS Wing of the Institute observed National Voters Day on 25th Jan, 2018 in the institute campus, in which a pledge is taken by students of the institute to participate in the electoral process. The significance of this day is to encourage youngsters, who have reached the age of 18, of the country to participate in the electoral process, by enrolling or registering themselves in electoral rolls and to exercise their franchise. The NSS Unit of DAVIET, in association with Civil Hospital Jalandhar and Das Eye Hospital Jalandhar organized a day long Blood Donation and Eye Check Up Camp here at DAVIET. The Camp aimed at educating the students about the significance of making a useful contribution to society by saving life of a person in need. In the camp more than 100 enthusiastic DAVIETians donated blood and more than 200 people got their eyes checked.
A survey under NDLM was conducted at Village Bal, Dist. Jalandhar to enrol villagers for computer literacy programme supported by Ministry of electronics and IT, Govt. of India. Around 40 NSS volunteers took part in this exercise to collect the data from around 400 houses, who are willing to enrol for the course.
A 1 km long human chain is made for voting awareness by the students of institute from Verka Milk Plant, Jalandhar. Around 1500 students of various streams took part in this formation.
A College Level Seminar on VISAKA-“VittayaSakshartaAbhiyan” organised on12th Jan. 2017A College Level Seminar on VISAKA-“VittayaSakshartaAbhiyan” was organised in the convention hall of DAVIET on 12th Jan. 2017. The purpose of the “VittiyaSakshartaAbhiyan” is to actively engage the students of Higher Education Institutions to encourage and motivate all payers and payees to use a digitally enabled cashless economic system for transfer of funds. Ministry of Human Resource Development views the institutions of higher education in the country, faculty members and students to take the lead and act as engines of this transformational shift.
The NSS Unit of DAVIET, in association with Rotary Club Jalandhar North, organized a Blood Donation Camp on 9th, February, 2016. Two leading NGOs of the City, The Blood Association and Bagla Mukhi Association also contributed in the organization of the event. In all 300 volunteers donated blood. The Camp aimed at educating the students about the significance of making a useful contribution to society by saving life of a person in need.
