DAVIET’s Human Value Cell aims to provide the much necessary bridge between the prevalent human condition and the envisioning of a happy and prosperous world. Through the introduction of this cell, an attempt has been made to draw the attention of our stakeholders towards the problems and challenges that are there in front of them at the levels of individual, family, society and nature. Through the method of a vibrant dialogue students are encouraged to do self exploration to differentiate the right from the wrong and stay committed to the decisions taken on the basis of their natural acceptance.
The modern day man is beset with many problems; the chief among them is the feeling of alienation and rootless. Questions about the meaning of life and one’s purpose in this world remain unanswered for a majority of the people. In the absence of correct understanding of one’s aim people face problems at the individual level, and at the level of family, society and nature. Whichever level of existence we might concentrate upon; people are restless, unhappy, jealous and bogged down. The same attitude is carried forward when they have to interact with nature where they end up mercilessly and mindlessly exploiting nature.
The purpose of education is to provide all encompassing solutions to the problems faced by the people. The tragedy of the prevalent system is that our education is more oriented towards creation of skill sets rather than transforming the students into rational, responsible and thinking human beings who can take policy decisions for the welfare of masses without harming the coexistence with nature.
It is hoped that the Human Values Cell of the Institution will ensure that the students are made aware of the problems and their possible solutions through self exploration. The Cell will ensure that the students internalize the fact that they have to respond to situations instead of react. At the same time, the Cell will facilitate the students to identify their societal responsibilities. Through the activities of the Cell an effort will be made to rid society from the ills prevalent. Further the Human Values Cell will ascertain that the students realize that they have a lot of potential which when realized will propel the society forward in a positive direction.
This course is universally adaptable, involving a systematic and rational study of the human being vis-a-vis the rest of existence. It is free from any dogma or value prescriptions. It is a process of self- exploration, and not of giving sermons. Reality is stated as proposal and the students are facilitated to verify it in their own right based on their Natural Acceptance and Experiential Validation. This process of self-exploration takes the form of a dialogue between the teacher and the students to begin with, and within the student himself/herself finally. This self-exploration also enables them to evaluate their pre-conditionings and present beliefs.
We want to verify these values ourselves, i.e. we don’t want to assume something just because something is stated somewhere. This can be done by both checking for validity within ourselves, as well as something which we can implement in our living (inbehaviour with human beings and work with rest of nature) and observe its outcome.
Value education is not merely an academic exercise. It is aimed at transforming our consciousness and living. Hence, it has to permeate into all dimensions of our living, namely, thought, behavior, work and understanding/realization; as well as all levels namely individual, family, society and nature
Finally, value education has to enable us to be in harmony within and in harmony with others. That is it leads to human conduct.
E.g. It leads to fulfillment of the human purpose
Resolution (in the self) in every individual
Prosperity in every family
Fearlessness (trust) in society
Co-existence in Nature/Existence

A lecture was organized during SIP – 2022 for the freshers in which the keynote speaker was Dr. Pallavi Khanna, a TISS Mumbai-trained counseling psychologist with decades of experience in counseling for a variety of issues related to anxiety (generalized anxiety disorder, OCD, phobias, Social anxiety disorder, psychosomatic disorders), borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, depression, family conflicts, and relationship stress, as well as extensive experience working with students in schools and colleges to help them overcome self-confidence and acceptance-related stress. She opened the Jalandhar’s first counseling centre in 1995. Dr. Pallavi Khanna began her counselling and psychology session by interacting with the new students and asking about their psychological issues. The students responded and gave her a list of issues, some of which included societal pressure, over thinking, insecurities, anger management, stress management, procrastination, and self-belief. She continued by citing a quotation from Sadhguru to describe happiness: “The quality of your existence depends not on your clothes, car, or home, but on how serene and content you are.”
After that, she offered some remedies to issues including procrastination, tension, overthinking, pessimism, and emotion resilience. Her advice to the pupils included assessing one’s thoughts and feelings, looking for unreasonable thinking, being aware of triggers and patterns, and being conscious of one’s own self-talk. She also gave the students assignments like learning how to be joyful. A very informative and knowledgeable session ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Kanchan L. Singh, convener of SIP-2022 along with the faculty of Applied Sciences Department.
During second week of SIP-2022 a two days session was organised on heartfulness conducted by the eminent speaker Ms. Swarcha Mehra a well known heartfulness trainer. Ms. Mehra represented the heartfulness organisation, a non-profit organisation that is also spiritual. She was advising the newcomers on self-improvement because after the pandemic they had lost motivation and aspirations. Since students suffered alot mentally after the pandemic COVID-19 so she gave them tips on how to enhance their mental health. She talked about how being present in the moment—knowing what is going on around you, having fun and finding enjoyment in the little things, having a safe space, and telling those close to you what is on your mind or heart—can help with mental health. She also spoke about the value of moral principles in a time when young people think it’s cool to be nasty and not lend a hand to those in need. By embracing positive stress and waving goodbye to negative ones, one can transform from being stressed to being strong. Procrastination should also be avoided because it adds to stress. She claimed that meditation is a method for training the mind to focus on a single thing for an extended length of time. The human brain’s primary function is thought, and throughout the day, the association process allows the brain to bounce from one idea to another. Meditation is necessary since our thoughts are not naturally accustomed to concentrate on one thing at a time. She added that on the one hand, meditation can increase your ability to concentrate, focus, and work more efficiently. Additionally, it helps to lower stress and anxiety while also improving the quality of your sleep. On the other hand, it supports the growth of inside qualities like serenity, happiness, and a sense of simplicity and peace.
With the words “know your strength to know the power of intentions together with will-power will lead to success,” she concluded the two day session on heartfulness. Really the learnings shared by Ms. Swarcha Mehra and meditation activities done in the lecture made the mind relaxed and soul active. A very effective session came to an end by the blessings of speaker. Dr. Kanchan L. Singh, convener of SIP along with the faculty of Applied Sciences thanked Ms. Swarcha Mehra for her valuable time to interact with the freshers and providing them skills to enhance there inner strength to succeed in life.
A series of lectures on UHVPE was arranged by the faculty of Department of Applied Sciences in UHVPE for the freshers in B.Tech. during Student Induction Program -2022. The keynote speakers for the series of sessions are Dr. Kanchan L Singh, Convener SIP-2022 and Human Values Cell (DAVIET) & Head Department of Applied Sciences, Dr. Shivani Vij, Assistant Professor Department of Applied Sciences and member of Human Values Cell and Dr. Payal Sharma, Assistant Professor Department of Applied Sciences and member of Human Values Cell.
The eminent faculties emphasized that value education attempts to build the crucial link between the current state of humanity and the desire for a peaceful, wealthy world. Through this education, an effort has been made to alert our stakeholders to the issues and difficulties that they must face on a personal, family, societal, and environmental level. Students are encouraged to engage in self-exploration to distinguish between right and wrong and to stick with decisions made based on their natural acceptance through the use of a lively dialogue method.
The feeling of alienation and rootlessness is the most significant issue facing modern man.
They emphasised that The majority of individuals still have unanswered questions about life’s meaning and one’s role in the world. People encounter issues at the individual level, as well as at the levels of family, community, and nature, when their goals are not correctly understood. Regardless of the level of existence we choose to focus on, people are restless, unhappy, jealous, and stuck. When forced to deal with nature, they continue to operate in the same way, ruthlessly and blindly exploiting the environment. The goal of education is to give people all-encompassing answers to their issues. The problem of the current system is that it places more emphasis on the development of skill sets than on developing pupils into logical, independent thinkers. The tragedy of the current educational system is that it places more emphasis on developing students’ skill sets than on developing them into thoughtful, responsible, and sensible adults who can make decisions for the welfare of the general public without endangering the coexistence with nature.
They elaborate that This education, which involves a systematic and logical examination of the human being in relation to the rest of existence, is globally adaptable. It is devoid of all theology and moral guidelines. It is a journey of self-discovery, not of preaching. The students are given the reality as a proposition and given the tools they need to independently check it using their own Natural Acceptance and Experiential Validation. This process of self-discovery begins as a discussion between the teacher and the students and ends with the student(s) themselves. They can assess their current beliefs and preconditionings as a result of this self-exploration.
A session on heartfulness was organised in which the keynote speaker was Ms. Manjula Verma, Government mistress and Heartfulness Trainer. She is heartfulness U connect campus Coordinator of Punjab, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir. The session began with a Question and Answer session with the students and a review of earlier lessons. The session’s focus was on how to settle internal and external problems. Ma’am explained to the students the causes of the conflicts. Conflicts on the outside result from disparate wants, hopes, and beliefs. The main justification is that everything has to do with body consciousness. One’s behaviour becomes biassed as a result of this body consciousness. She then continued to educate the class on dharma using the Mahabharata as her example. Dharma instructs on how to live a moral life. Rajogun, Tamogun, and Satogun were the three guns she mentioned. She advised pupils to include more Satogun, practice karmic yoga, and give their troubles to the supreme being. The meeting concluded with meditation skill which helped the students to get relaxed and stress free. With this the session came to end that is liked and appreciated by the freshers and faculty present. Dr. Kanchan L Singh honoured the guests and thanked Ms. Manjula Ver for providing her valuable time from busy curriculum to interact with students (new comers)

EXPERT LECTURE BY MS. SWARCHA MEHRA ON “HEARTFULNESS MEDITATION” 19th OCTOBER, 2021
An expert lecture is organised by department of Applied Sciences for the fresher students of 2021 batch in the second week of Student Induction Program-SIP (2021). The keynote speaker of the lecture was Ms. Swarcha Mehra on “Heartfulness Meditation”.
She advised the benefits of meditating mind and heart for the perfect sync of both together. She explained that meditation is described as the practise of contemplation or focused thought on a single topic. Essentially, you focus your thoughts on a single object, activity, or thought. According to her the meditation is also a technique for teaching the mind to concentrate on one subject for a period of time. The human brain’s inherent role is to think, and during the day, the brain jumps from one concept to another through the process of association. Because our minds are not naturally trained to focus on one item at a time, meditation is required.
Meditation has numerous advantages. On the one hand, meditation can help you focus, concentrate, and be more productive. It also aids in the reduction of tension and anxiety while also enhancing the quality of your sleep. On the other side, it aids in the development of inner traits such as calmness, joy, and a sense of peace and simplicity. The goal of meditation is an essential predictor of the effects of meditation. As a result, selecting a meditation practise with the appropriate meditation object is critical. We’ve all heard about meditation’s benefits and want to give it a try. So what’s the point of waiting for the “proper time”? Isn’t it now the time that we all can make a positive change in your life? she asked. The lecture was attended by faculty of applied sciences and students. Dr. Kanchan L. Singh, Convener HVC and Head department of Applied Sciences delivered vote of thanks and appreciated the knowledge of madam Swarcha Mehra. Few glimpses:

A SEMINAR CUM WORKSHOP “REDUCIGN STRESS THROUGH MEDITATION” ON YOGA BY SAHAJA YOGA MEDITATION
On 12 February, 2018 DAVIET Human Values Cell, organised a one day workshop cum seminar for the students and faculty of DAVIET on the topic “Reducign Stress Through Meditation” in which an expert from Sahaja Yoga Meditation Centre guided faculty and students that how to reduce stress with the help of meditation.
He explained that Sahaja Yoga is a unique method of meditation based on an experience called Self Realization (Kundalini awakening) that can occur within each human being. Through this process an inner transformation takes place by which one becomes moral, united, integrated and balanced.
He explained that one can receive his Self Realization (connection with your Self) while sitting in front of computer. The only condition is sincere desire to have it. He explained the audience that during the experience you will keep your left hand with the palm upwards on your lap and place the right palm on various parts of the body on your left side, while keeping your eyes closed for the entire duration. This way you will be free of distractions and able to keep your attention inside. Taking off your shoes might also help since the Mother Earth sucks all negativity through our feet.
Now, after the end of the meditation, see if you are feeling relaxed and if your thoughts have slowed down or gradually disappeared. This is the first stage of meditation – thoughtless awareness – where you are fully alert but without any thoughts, in a state of pure and peaceful consciousness.
Now see if you can feel a sensation of a gentle cool breeze in your palms and above your head. It might be warm in the beginning which is a sign that your Kundalini energy is purifying your chakras, but it will eventually cool down. You can verify it by placing your left palm 6-12 inches above your head, then trying with the right palm.
If you are unable to feel it, you have probably not forgiven everyone. Say again from your heart, “Mother, I forgive everyone” a few times and check again if you feel the cool breeze above your head.
This is the beginning of a fantastic journey into your own spiritual existence. It is a door opened to a new dimension of your awareness, which you can open and explore. I f sustained through regular meditation, you will be able to feel your subtle centers (chakras) as well as the chakras of others on your fingertips, and correct them using your spiritual energy (Kundalini).
The faculty and students enjoyed the session and performed exercises explained by the expert. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks to the Sahaja Yoga team.
