The Department of Business Management of DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar organised an Expert Talk on GST (Goods and Services Tax) on October 19, 2022 Mr. Puneet Oberoi, a renowned Chartered Accountant was the speaker of the day. By considering the importance of GST, DAVIET organised this event for the students. Punnet Oberoi is a Secretary General of “The Income Tax and GST Consultants Forum”, a body of professionals for knowledge dissemination and representation of critical issues. He has delivered more than 450 hours of Lectures on GST and other Economic matters at various platforms of department and Trade/Industry at various locations across the country. He is also President of Democratic Council, an NGO to protect the fundamental rights of the citizens of India which actively contributes in the areas of anti-corruption and RTI. He is also a member of JAYCEES in Jalandhar and has been awarded Kamal Patra Award by Jaycees for his outstanding contribution in his profession.
CA Puneet Oberoi discussed various aspects of GST. He threw light on origin of GST along with the earlier tax structure. He discussed salient features and benefits of GST. He talked about various components of GST in detail. He specifically discussed IGST mechanism.

Department of Business Management of DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology organised a workshop on the topic “Tax Planning and Procedure of filing Income Tax Returns” on May10, 2022 for the students of MBA, BBA and B. Com (Hons.) under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Manoj Kumar and able guidance of HOD Dr. Anil Soni. The main objectives of this workshop to inculcate among students the practical aspects of the subject to make them fit for the industry and reducing gap between industry and Academia. CA Ashwani Jindal was resource person of the workshop and has discussed various methods of tax planning in very simplified ways and differentiates between tax planning, tax evasion and tax avoidance with interesting examples and video clippings. He has also elaborated with facts and figures that only a few percentage of population of India who is liable to pay taxes, are actually paying tax. Mr. Jindal has organized more than 1000 seminars and conferences. He has been awarded as the Best Chairman and Secretary by the Northern India Regional Council of ICAI.
Mr. Jindal has been associated as co-opted member with a large number of organizations like Skill Enrichment Board, Career Counseling Committee of ICAI, Internal Audit Standard Board of ICAI and Board of Studies of ICAI.
Mr. Ashwani Jindal discussed various aspects of income tax return and changes made recently in filing return. He threw light on TDS, Sugam, SAHAJ, ITR- 1, ITR- 2, ITR-4 and deductions under various heads. He discussed a number of aspects of ‘mode of filing return’. He specifically discussed various parts of ‘Tax Planning’.
He has also enlightened the students with the various types of returns and procedure on E-filling income tax return in very elaborative and easy mode. Formal Vote of thanks has been delivered by Dr. Suman Tandon, Convener of the event. Principal Dr. Manoj Kumar has appreciated the efforts of the department for organising this event. The workshop turned out to be very informative and interactive for the students.
Workshop on “Questionnaire Design for Research in Social Sciences” held at DAVIET The department of Business Management of DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar organized a workshop on “Questionnaire Design for Research in Social sciences” on March 30,2022.As questionnaires are the most commonly used method of research in marketing, social and health sciences. The quality of research mainly depends upon the quality of design of questionnaire, its reliability and validity. Dr. Robin Kaushal, Assistant Professor, Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana was the resource person. She has highlighted the importance of questionnaire in research and elaborated the various steps in questionnaire design in very simple and effective way. She has discussed the various qualities of good questionnaire to have excellence in research which will help industry and society to give solutions to some critical problems.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET, appreciated the department of Business Management for organizing this workshop for the benefit of the students. He motivated the students to take part enthusiastically in such workshops which are helpful for their development of research related skills and to make them employable.

Consumers Rights Day is commemorated to safeguard consumers right and to ensure that customers are not subjected to market exploitation or social injustice that may jeopardize their rights. So to make people aware of their rights, this day was celebrated at DAVIET with the theme of event “Shiksha Badhao Ghrahak Bachao”. As many as 50 students belonging to different disciplines including BBA, B.Com, B.Tech and MBA participated in the event and spread awareness on consumer rights through Roleplay and Skits.
Dr Manoj Kumar, Principal, DAVIET appreciated the efforts of students and encouraged the department to take up such endeavors in the future as well. He congratulated the students and faculty members for their active participation and enthusiasm.
Dr Anil Soni, HOD, Department of Business Management stressed upon the need of such awareness programmes. He assured that the Department of Business Management will extend its full cooperation for programmes related to social cause and awareness.

SPSS is one of the most popular softwares used by the researchers widely. Basic knowledge of SPSS is vital for all the users before they proceed to survey and data analysis. By considering the importance of SPSS, DAVIET organised this workshop for the students. Dr. Ashwani Panesar, Assistant Professor, Mittal School of Business and Dr. Maninder Singh, Assistant Professor, Lovely Professional University delivered lecture on basics of SPSS and taught application of different techniques to the students.

DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology is hosting youth Parliament on 7th and 8th February 2020. It is a platform offered to the youngsters where they are given a mock parliament set up so that they can gain exposure to the parliamentary type debate. The faculty coordinators for the event are Dr Megha Munjal Sharma and Ms. Amrit Kaur from the Department of Business Management.
The initiator of Change Youth Organization is one of the most established youth development nonprofit organization working in Punjab and Delhi since 2015. Its aim is to impart leadership amongst youngsters and make them socially and politically aware. For the services, the Organization has been honored with the National Youth Award 2018 by the Government of India.
Initiators of Change is organizing SBS Youth Parliament to at DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology on 7th and 8th February 2020 which will have around 200 youngsters participating from various parts of Punjab. The conference will stimulate two committees of Indian base in which students will play the part of various political leaders and deliberate upon to issues. During the course of the conference, students will get to learn about negotiation, communication skills, decision making, writing skills and knowledge about Indian political system. The agenda for Youth Parliament is “Religion as a basis for granting citizenship under CAA and NRC” deliberate upon issues to come out with a solution. Further, the students can also represent Indian Press members as Photographers, Journalists or Caricaturists.
